Why join this union?

Not ready to sign up? Then sign up just for our email list.

Prospective members of UA-Fayetteville Education Association/Local 965 (Arkansas Education Association-National Education Association) are encouraged to join online. Dues are paid by bank draft or credit card, your choice of monthly or annually.

Sign Up or Renew

Arkansas does not allow payroll deductions for union dues of public educators or staff. On the AEA/NEA application, members choose monthly or yearly payments by either credit card or bank draft.

  • New member? Head to NEA’s eDues online form. The membership form is a financial agreement, so read carefully. AEA, NEA and Local 965 are unified; membership is required in all organizations.
  • Lapsed members must update their choice of bank draft or credit card and monthly or annually, by completing this online form. You’ll need your AEA/NEA membership number; find it on your union card and AEA emailed announcements.

Local 965 also welcomes membership from retired UA staff and faculty, aspiring educators including grad students intending to teach postsecondary, and our community allies.

Here is the current dues table. Membership forms separate AEA from NEA numbers but expect you to fill in the Local dues amount.

AEA/NEA dues are set for Sept. 1 – Aug. 31. However, rates might change — and be recorded on your bank or credit card accounts — before this website is updated.

Community Allies —Friends of public education and higher education are invited to join AEA/NEA as auxiliary members. Dues are $40 a year, with $15 going to AEA and $25 to NEA. Online application.

Undergraduate or Graduate Students / Aspiring Educator — Membership is available if you are enrolled in a post-secondary program that is preparatory for employment in a position that will make you eligible for Active (educator) NEA membership. National dues are only $15 a year. Frequently asked questions.

Retired membership level — Join more than 320,000 retired educators who continue to support public education and use their skills and talents to serve the greater community. Dues $50 a year or $500 for lifetime membership. The retiree application (PDF) is to be printed out, completed and mailed in. The lifetime membership level can be set up pre-retirement (PDF).

Is there any tax break from union dues? In a word, no. The Turbo Tax gang and the H&R Block crowd have explanations.
