University of Arkansas employees organized into a single public employees union in the 1960s, Local 965 of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees. In January 2020, we reaffiliated as UA-Fayetteville Education Association / Local 965 with the Arkansas Education Association, a division of the National Education Association.

Land Acknowledgment
Local 965 acknowledges that the Fayetteville, Arkansas, area was the historic home of the Osage, Quapaw, Oceti Sakowin (Sioux) and Caddo nations, according to the widely used Native Land Digital. Further, the National Education Association, to which the chapter belongs, recognizes that land acknowledgement is a teaching tool for professionals, students and indeed everyone.
