Local 965 of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees hosted a forum Aug. 15, 2017, on Arkansas new law allowing concealed weapons to be carried on campuses statewide. Panelists included Mark Rushing, assistant vice chancellor of University Relations of the University of Arkansas, UA Police Chief Steve Gahagans, UA Associate General Counsel Matt McCoy and Fayetteville police officer Scott Carlton of the Fayetteville Police Department. The session was held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Fayetteville.
